We all know that there is sugar in a lot of foods, but here are 3 that you may not have realised have so much sugar included in them.
Different countries may vary, but have a look at similar products where you live and see if there is a sugar plantation in these foods too. It may be wise to think twice about what processed and packaged foods you pop into your shopping bag, as what we put into our mouth affects our skin enormously.

Fisherman’s Friend should be renamed the Sugar Plantations’ friend – lol
Sugar is the first ingredient…and you know what that means?
There’s a whole lot of sugar in there.
Ingredients: Sugar, Liquorice Extract, Menthol, Eucalyptus Oil, Dextrin, Tragacanth, Capsicum Tincture
-
Oyster Sauce
– In many brands, sugar is the second ingredient! And you thought you were cooking the main course, not dessert!
Ingredients: Water, Sugar, Salt, Thickener (1422), Flavour Enhancers (621, 635), Yeast Extract, Flavours (Crustacea, Fish, Soy), Acidity Regulator (330), Colour (150c), Oyster Extract (0.23%), Preservative 202.

Yogurt covered blueberries or apricot –
Yes, it’s not sugar-free plain yoghurt those antioxidant filled berries and apricots are covered with; the sugar content is huge.
Ingredients: Yoghurt Coating – Sugar, Palm Kernel Oil, Whey Powder, Non-Fat Milk Powder, Yoghurt Powder (cultured whey and nonfat milk) Vitamin A Palmitate, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) Vitamin D3, Titanium Dioxide, Soy Lecithin, Vanilla, Coconut Oil, Carnauba Wax and Confectioners Glaze (Lac-Resin)
Many of these ingredients you may never have heard of and may not even be able to pronounce, so imagine what these ingredients can do to our delicate digestive systems? And what is happening in the digestive system can have a direct correlation to what’s happening without skin.
Have a look at the labels on foods. Particularly health foods…muesli bars, gluten free muesli etc. often they can be dairy free & gluten free, but the sugar still makes its way up there on the ingredients list.
Remember we ideally want to keep sugar low and reduce artificial ingredients (food colourings, additives etc.) to help our skin, energy, and mood.
The easiest way to think of it is:
- As few ingredients as possible.
- Whole ingredients.
- Sugar as low down ingredient list as possible
- Ideally no additives, preservatives, and colours.
Keep it simple, keep it clean and our skin will thank us.
